Man swept off Kalk Bay harbour wall by huge wave

A crazy day down at Kalk Bay on Friday 12 June 2020.
While waiting and watching the surf I noticed this guy standing at the lighthouse at the harbour. A wave came over and he got a bit wet. He then saw another wave approaching and decided to make a run for it. The wave won. This was the largest wave I saw come over the wall during the time I was watching. He happened to be underneath the highest point of the wave. He got obliterated and landed up inside the harbour. I drove down to the harbour afterward to check on him and he had managed to get himself out and was ok, although a bit soggy.
My photo and story covered the front page of the local newspaper, The Argus, the following Monday.
