I have had the pleasure of capturing a wide variety of events over the years. It’s what I do.
Recently, I had the opportunity to photograph two very different events – both wonderful celebrations, both involving beautiful ladies dressed to impress.
First up, was a 60th birthday party. It was an afternoon garden tea (with a bit of bubbly) celebration of a group of lady friends. It was clear that they were all in the mood to celebrate. The ladies were dressed to impress, and the energy was buzzing in the sunny autumn afternoon. It was a pleasure to capture these moments of such fun and deep friendships.
It was mid-afternoon and my work was far from over. After the birthday party, I had to rush over to the next event – a pre-drink for a group of young ladies who were about to attend their matric dance.
The girls were dressed to the nines in their beautiful gowns, and they were all smiles, with just a. little bit of nervousness, as they posed for photos. I loved how each girl had her own unique style, and I did my best to capture that in each photo I took. From playful poses to more serious, model-like shots. There were individual images, some with their partners and of course, the family captures. These matric dance “pre” images really are unique captures of a special time in children’s lives.
It was an honor to be able to capture these moments for them to remember for years to come.
As a photographer, I love being able to capture moments of joy and celebration like these. It’s a privilege to be able to capture memories that will last a lifetime, and I always feel grateful to be a part of these special events. Both the birthday party and the matric dance pre-drink were such unique and special experiences, and I’m so glad that I had the opportunity to be a part of them.
