This was probably the most stressful shoot I’ve done since my early days of shooting weddings on film. I sweated buckets then and I did so again on this shoot with Nick and Loren.
Nick arranged a beautiful setting in the rose garden at Kleine Zalze to propose to Loren. He asked me to capture the moment – “but don’t let Loren see you!”
I made a plan with the Kleime Zalze event organisor that I was scouting the place for an upcoming wedding. So I walked about and snapped shots of Nick and Loren every now and then. Nick was great in that he too pretended I wasn’t there and I think we managed to not raise any suspicions of Loren.
I knew he would pop the question soon after they had finished their main course at about 7:30. This was when I positioned myself behind a nearby tree waiting for Nick to get down on his knee. Good on him for proposing on the side that meant Loren’s was facing away from me – that made my task a bit easier.
All the time the light was fading, they were sitting in the shade, time was passing, the moon was rising – it was a full moon though which only added to the occasion.
Nick got down on his knee, popped the question and Loren said yes!
Sealed with a kiss.
Congratulations Nick and Loren
