I received the call on Tuesday to photograph this special wedding on Wednesday, the following day. Miryan and Harry are from Austria and were holidaying in Cape Town and decided to get married. Well, it wasn’t as impromptu as that – they had decided to get married well before hand, they just weren’t sure where or when they would celebrate their special day. Cape Town, as it does, spoke to them and so our fair city was the chosen location.
The afternoon started out at Silvermist Mountain Lodge on Constantia Nek where they did the legal stuff together with some staff from Silvermist as witnesses – it really was a wedding with just the two of them, no family, no friends.
From Silvermist we continued to the sand dunes above Hout Bay and looking down onto Sandy Bay and the Atlantic. The sign on the walk up read “No nudity on path” so we were spared any streakers during the ceremony.
The day had been blessed with many serendipitous moments. One of these moments was getting a dinner reservation at the last minute at Tintswalo Lodge Atlantic. What a stunning venue right on the water’s edge far below Chapman’s Peak Drive. Miryan and Harry were blown away – not by the South Easter but by the sheer beauty, uniqueness and privacy of this lodge. The photos below show some of the fun and beauty we enjoyed at Tintswalo.
Miryan and Harry, it has been a pleasure meeting you and sharing your special day. We look forward to you visiting us again in the future.
